Families benefit from behavior consultation.

Behavior Consultations and Parent Training are not to be confused with counseling or therapy in any way. I am not a psychotherapist, mental health counselor, or a social worker. What I am is a professional with nearly 30 years of hands-on experience providing behavior consultation and training — for all types of behaviors and for people in all walks and stations of life. Behavior Consultation in this format can be extraordinarily helpful for many. A consultation can be one or multiple sessions depending upon various factors. Note that consultations will be provided remotely via ZOOM.

If you are unsure of which type fits your situation, don’t worry. We can assist in making that determination within the initial consult.

Behavior Consultation Types / Parent Training

 Behavior Consultation I

Self-Management

Behavior Consultation I is an opportunity to get assistance with behaviors that might be creating challenges or interference with various aspects of your life.

Some of these behaviors could include management of organizational skills, social skills deficits, tendencies to put off required tasks, or maintaining healthy lifestyle choices.

We will work together to identify how and why these behaviors are occurring and review strategies to address them.

It should be noted that this service is not psychotherapy, counseling, provision of social work, or medical advice of any kind.

This consultation is not recommended for severe behavior or mental health problems that pose a significant risk to your physical health or safety. Under this condition, a more intense intervention with appropriate service providers is strongly recommended.

Who can benefit from Behavior Consultation I?

Anyone who has a desire to increase or decrease their own behaviors in order to experience a higher quality of life.

Behavior Consultation II

Intensive Consultative Services

Behavior Consultation II is a remote application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service provision.

The breadth of my experience for nearly 2 decades as a BCBA uniquely qualifies me as a provider of remote ABA services.

The purpose of this consultation is to address behaviors that significantly interfere with an individual’s ability to complete tasks related to developmental stages, various learning skills, self-help activities, social interactions, academic and/or work-related performance skills.

Behaviors that occur too much as well as those that are not occurring enough are targeted in this model. Examples of excessive behaviors would be temper tantrums or refusals to complete required tasks. Deficit behaviors would include individuals who are lacking in the ability to communicate effectively or those who are not demonstrating appropriate social interaction skills.

Behavior Consultation II is NOT solely purposed for children on the Autism Spectrum. ABA is suited to address behavior problems and deficits for everyone.

This service is not psychotherapy, counseling, provision of social work, or medical advice of any kind.

This consultation is not recommended for severe behavior or mental health problems that pose a significant risk to the safety of the client or to others. Under these conditions, a more intense intervention with appropriate service providers is strongly recommended.

Who can benefit from Behavior Consultation II?
Anyone currently responsible for teaching or providing supervision over the behaviors
of others.

This would include primary caregivers, teachers, therapists, coaches, employers,
supervisors, etc.

Parent Training

An application of ABA specifically for parents. Parent training is a specially designed package of instruction and supervision provided to parents of children who are demonstrating various behavior challenges.

We will work together to identify various behavior targets. I will then provide the teaching and supervision necessary for implementing behavior interventions to address those targets.

Additionally, my unique experiences within the field of special education in public school settings, allows me the opportunity to provide specific guidance to parents of special needs children. I can help families navigate the sometimes confusing world of special education policies and procedures.

A few of the Diagnoses and behaviors that can be addressed in parent training include, but are not limited to:

  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Developmental Delays / Intellectual Disabilities
  • Temper Tantrums and Refusals

This service is not psychotherapy, counseling, provision of social work, or medical advice of any kind.

This consultation is not recommended for severe behavior or mental health problems that pose a significant risk to the safety of the child or to others. Under these conditions, a more intense intervention with appropriate service providers is strongly recommended.
